By the time I reached Taiping Zoo, it was already 3.30pm in the afternoon. I’ve heard so many good stuff about Taiping Zoo. Foreign and local visitors praised the zoo for a wholesome experience. Taiping Zoo ranked number 1 among foreigners coming to Malaysia. You can read their reviews in TripAdvisor.com

I have to see for myself. Upon entry to the zoo, I was a shock and disbelief! You call this superior, wonderful and amazing? The animals’ cage and enclosure were antique and ‘rotten’! Lots of ‘live’ exhibits were mysteriously removed from display.

I’m not saying Taiping Zoo is a total pariah. The zoo still has an amazing collection of animals. I really like those rare, exotic and tiny little mammals in the zoo. Animals seem to be thriving in the zoo. Four recently born lion cubs become the latest addition to Taiping Zoo. They were DAMN CUTE & ADORABLE!!! I was given permission by the workers to hug and carry a lion cub. It was a surreal experience!!! I wish I can smuggle that cutie back to Kuala Lumpur :)

Other than that, the zoo also has some healthy collection of large-sized rhinos and hippos. If you want to experience Taiping Zoo UP, CLOSE & PERSONAL, forgo the lazy tram ride. WALK and EXPLORE the entire zoo. I took only two hours to do that. Overall, Taiping Zoo is a bit old and rundown but it is still a nice place to visit.

  15. Taiping Safari is one of the places that I wanna visit but couldn't find the time. You really visit aggressively. How do you cope with your work?

  16. shloke Says:
  17. @Shelyn,

It's a BIG place to explore with big collection of animals.
I spent one whole day trying to see anything and everything about Taiping but.... UNSUCCESSFUL :(

Shelyn, there is a saying from Ulysses "To strive to seek to find and not to yield" I'm BEN TYLER in the movie ONE WEEK. Here is the link:

Honestly, work is like second priority to me. I just wanna get lost in a different place and be a total stranger meeting & talking to strangers. I think my immediate boss is following my updates. I guess they don't mind :)

    @fufu,

Thank you again! You have so many great memories to relate to those pictures.

About those infos, no problem brother fufu! Glad I can help a bit.

fufu....you are a great inspiration to me. If you published your book or memoir, I'll be be of the first buddy to get it!

We will always support fufu and looking forward to your great adventures. I wish you a great journey and discovery.

    Cheers to fufu & Shelyn,

  19. Hey.. it's so nice to look at your photo.. By seeing your photo I got more confident to decide on purchasing Nikon D90 :)..Closeup of the baby lion really stunning..

I never know Taiping got such interesting place to visit, thanks a lot for sharing it.. May I know whether the concept of it is the same as Night Safari at S'pore?

  20. shloke Says:
  21. @Anne,

    Gee...thanks for the kind compliments!!!

I snapped lots of pictures and select the best pictures for my blog posting.

Taiping is a small town but lots of places to see and also loads of side attractions.

Anne, I've never been to Singapore's Night Safari. Not fair for me to make a comparison. I'm not sure whether Taiping Night Safari is as good as Singapore. One thing for sure, Singapore's Zoo is WAY BETTER than Malaysia's Zoo.

Thank you for visiting my blog!

  23. I thought I posted you a comment. Not sure if it wasn't saved. Anyway, would like to ask you regarding the small blogger banners/logos at the right navigator of your blog, I saw many bloggers subscribe those things and put on their blogs also. Any particular reason for that?

By the way, can you add my www.travel-living-bliss.com on your blogroll? I have added yours into my new travel blog ^_^

    Thanks!

  24. shloke Says:
  25. Shelyn,

You've posted a comment about Taiping Night Safari and coping with work. I'm not sure whether you add in any other comments. Please do let me know if any other comments were added to another post :)

Shelyn.....I don't think there is any blogger banner or logo on the right side of my blog. There is a ggogle adsense banner and a jpg img of a tree. Are you referring to the 'subsrcibe' to rss feed thingy?

No problem adding travel-living-bliss as my reading list! Nice travel blog with three catchy names "TRAVEL, LIVING & BLISS".

    Cheers!
