A close-up shot of a Bird of Paradise leaf. I chance upon this wonderful moment while I was walking to the Hibiscus Park. The sunny light that fallen on this piece of leaf create a wonderful glow of green.

This is my second trip to Kuala Lumpur's Hibiscus and Orchid Park. Both parks never fails to amuse me. The Orchid park houses over 3,000 orchid species from around the world, with 800 species from Malaysia alone. Hibiscus Park is devoted to the hibiscus, Malaysia's national flower. This park showcases more than 2,000 varieties of hibiscuses.

I had a GREAT three hours trip revisiting both hibiscus and orchid park. The best part about Kuala Lumpur Orchid Park is the secluded pond full of purplish water lilies. The sight and smell is SIMPLY HEAVEN!

It was a scorching hot afternoon - I had sunburn on my neck and face! Nevertheless, I don't care about those menial issue The best thing is having good sunny day :)

KUALA LUMPUR - GETTING HERE:

Air

The KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) is located about 50km from KL proper. All International Flights come through KLIA.

From KLIA, there are several ways to get to KL:

Taxis - available 24hours. Purchase the limousine or taxi tickets from counters before leaving the departure lounge. The counters are located at the exit. Fares are around RM85 - RM95 one way. Travel time: 55minutes depending on traffic situation in KL.

Rail link - There is a direct rail link called KLIA express rail link which leaves KLIA every 15min.

KL HOP-ON HOP OFF (BUS)

This is the most comprehensive way to experience the magic of Kuala Lumpur. Not only does it cover all major attractions, the tour also includes key shopping centres in the city. KLCC, Twin Tower, Bintang Walk, Merdeka Square, KL Tower, KL Sentral, Lake Garden, Petaling Street, Jamek Mosque, Sri Mahamariamman Temple, St. Mary’s Cathedral. Over 42 major sights and attractions.

Trains, Light Rail Transit systems, Monorails

KL is pretty well connected with relatively cheap and easy way of travelling around.

Taxis

The thing with our taxis here is that you may be unlucky enough to hop into one or two unscrupulous ones who refuses to put their metre fare on or one that will specifically ask for a higher price especially during rush hours. The metre rate starts at RM2.00. After midnight the fare is 50% more.
