I've been to Malawati Hill (Bukit Malawati) for over three times. The latest trip is the BEST! The sky was sunny and ocean blue. A perfect day to capture the beautiful lighthouse with my camera.

Carmen asked me about things to do/see in Malawati Hill (Bukit Malawati). Here is the complete list of things to do/see over there:

  1. Silver Leaf Monkeys
  2. A huge lighthouse built in the year 1907. This century old structure is still in use today to guide ships that sail along the Straits of Malacca.
  3. Kuala Selangor Historical Museum.
  4. Poisoned Well
  5. Kuala Selangor Nature Park (at the bottom of the hill)
  6. Malawati Fort
  7. Bed Rock
  8. Place for sighting of 'New Moon'
  9. Royal Mausoleum. This mausoleum is the final resting place of the first three Sultans of Selangor.
  • 1st Sultan of Selangor: Sultan Salahuddin (1742 - 1778)
  • 2nd Sultan of Selangor: Sultan Ibrahim (1778 - 1826)
  • 3rd Sultan of Selangor: Sultan Mahmud (1826 - 1857)

I'm not going to write too much. You can check out my previous detailed blog entries about Bukit Malawati. Again, I'll let the pictures do the talking :)

Malawati Hill (Bukit Malawati) - Getting There:

By car

Malawati Hill or also known as Bukit Malawati is located in Kuala Selangor, about 45 to 60 minutes drive away from Kuala Lumpur. If you are planning on driving, you can come from Kuala Lumpur via Sungai Buloh (Route 54) or if you are coming through the North-South PLUS Highway, exit at the Sungai Buloh turn-off and follow the road signboard.

Cars are allowed up the hill during weekdays. There is a one way road system that winds all the way up and then down some. For weekends you will have to park your vehicle at the bottom of the hill and walk up.

By Bus

Take Selangor Bus number 141 from platform 23 at the main bus terminal, Puduraya Bus Station in KL. The tickets are bought on the bus. Departs half hourly starting from 6.30am.

I am in the construction industry. I did my Master degree in Urban Renewal, similar to Fufu! So if you like to travel a lot, you need to be in the construction industry. Ha ha... Can you to sites and check your projects!

Kuih kapit? Ha ha... I miss them. My family used to make them before Chinese New Year.

Ha ha... Cannot do like that one. World class university must maintain their image! But why under the bridge? People here are very open, you can kiss on the bus, in the classrooms, anywhere you like. ;-)

  15. WOW! So many comments :) My apology for late reply.

    Okay...let's start from here:

    Cath J

    Thanks!

    fufu

Hi fufu! Actually, the sky in Malaysia is not always blue. Sometimes ocean blue, sometimes pale white. I guess I was lucky that day :)

You gotta see the silver leaf monkeys at Bukit Malawati. Simply amazing!

WOW! 40 cm of snow?? That's insane! Hope everything is OK over there.

    David

David also loves Bukit Malawati. LOL! I returned to Malawati Hill just to revisit my beloved 'long lost cousins'

    Carmen

You can also visit Sekinchan Fishing Village and Pasir Penambang Village (Shrimp Crackers Industry). Both villages are located in Kuala Selangor. So many things to see in Kuala Selangor!!

According to a local legend, if they kiss under the bridge, couples are assured eternal love :)

    xplorer

WOW! Thanks for the info. I did some googling searches and found some really nice pictures of Pekan Sari. This place looks like a mini Hatyai to me - veggie sellers, seafood hawkers, fruit peddlers and many more.

I LOVE authentic street market. Definitely must visit for mylo!!!

    Cheers to all!
