Title: “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step” - Lao Tzu
Location: 360° Viewpoint at BOH's Estate in Habu, Cameron Highlands, Malaysia
Date: 21 May 2009, 5:44pm
Camera: Nikon D60 with Aperture: f/6.3, ISO Equiv.: 100

I climbed up this concrete bench at the peak of the 360° viewpoint to 'capture' the wind. It was like HEAVEN and I FEEL GOOD.

I've just returned from a 2D 1N trip to Cameron Highlands, Pahang. It was an amazing journey for me. I've climbed Gunung Brinchang [6,666ft], spent some great moment with orang asli/aboriginal community, reached the highest 360° viewpoint at BOH's Estate in Habu, discover mossy forest and more!!!

I felt small after spending some time mingling with these orang asli at their resettlement village. It was meant to be a short trip to explore the place and take some photos. But, I end up talking, chatting and trying to understand their lives. It was a strange and humble experience. The elders and kiddos share their hopes and ambitions with me. It was SURREAL to be there.

I'll be updating full articles soon - I'm feeling tired and sleepy now :)

  4. @fufu,

I think Cameron Highlands is a great place for you - so many great place to explore. Numerous tea plantations such as Bharat Tea and BOH tea, challenging mountain climbing, gigantic flower and veggie farms, meet orang asli and also some great Chinese Temple that are very similar to Kek Lok Si in Penang.

You may want to download a full map listing all places of interest in Cameron Highlands. This is the link [PDF file, 902kb]:

fufu, you must visit Cameron before leaving Mlaysia again.

I'll be updating a post soon. Still uploading my pictures to photobucket.

    Cheers!

  16. @Shelyn,

Yep, been traveling a lot on weekends for the past few months. I hope to visit the 13 states by year end.

By 2010, I'll embark on a journey to India and Lhasa, Tibet.

    @kenwooi,

Sorry mate, Post 2 gonna be an ultra long post. Trying to pack the best details and photos in the upcoming post. The post will be published by tonight.

About the McD pictures....no wonder! Must be getting some kind of free McValue branch for doing a free publicity for them.

    @AdeYing,

Wah! not bad...a month of great nature escapade :) It's true...I felt 'free', peaceful and relax during my 2D 1N trip over there. People greeted me and say hello. You don't see it that often in Klang Valley. CH is free from the city madness, pollution and rudeness.

Ade, you have to wait for Post Number 3 for pictures and reviews about the aborigines. Most orang asli were relocated to Kg. Sg. Ruil. But, some of them are still scattered all over in Ringlet.

    Cheers ppl!

  18. Cool!! That's my plan to visit all places in M'sia before I fly to the states in June 2010. I'm also planning to create a new travel blog which blogs only about traveling with wordpress and host it in a paid domain. I think wordpress can do more compared to blogspot.

In regards to your trip to India and Lhasa, it's awesome! Are you slowly moving towards a full time journalist?

  20. @Shelyn,

WOW! You're flying to the states!!! I LOVE to visit their national parks - it's HUGE & simply AMAZING. Here is the official website of US's National Park http://www.nps.gov/

Maybe you can detour to some of those parks :) It's beautiful :)

Yep, I've seen some really wonderful travel blog using wordpress. You may wanna check out this photo blog by Herbert Wong for some ideas. He is currently away in New Zealand. A great traveler from Singapore:

About my impending trip to India and Tibet, I'm preparing myself by doing lots of research and watching numerous documentaries about Tibetan's culture and other stuff.

Hmmmm.....I'm not even a journalist. Actually, I'm working in the education line earning meager income.

    Cheers!

  22. I'm actually moving to the states. Might stay there permanently if there isn't any change to the plan.

Yeah, I visited Herbert Wong's blog before.. the pictures that he took are awesome. I wonder what does a traveler earn. Imagine you get to travel and make money at the same time, how great...

I know you are not journalist, I was asking if you're slowing moving towards that career :-), since you're so enthusiastic on traveling and blogging.

  23. shloke Says:
  24. @Shelyn,

WOW! Getting your green card? Why so sudden Shelyn? Work commitment or something else?

I don't think a traveler can earn decent income. Unless, we're talking about Ian Wright - the funny traveler from Lonely Planet. But, then again, I nearly accepted & signed a lucrative offer to work in Indonesia. But, I still miss Malaysia. I know some expatriate friends that actually travel to lots of countries and take up short term teaching position there.

Wish I can be a journalist, but my lauyah English is a deterrent :) I only started traveling recently and LOVE IT ever since.

I'll be traveling again next week to discover Perak, Kelantan and Terengganu.

    Best Wishes!

  28. @AdeYing,
